Eddie Hendrix is an Application Platform Technical Specialist working at Microsoft covering customers from St. Louis to Minneapolis.  After graduating with a Bachelors in Computer Science in 1999 he entered the St. Louis IT market and has been there ever since.  He has gained his extensive experience by working at several companies in the St. Louis area over the years.  He has had roles from production support to DBA to principal architect and now has been at Microsoft since early 2012.  You can follow Eddie on Twitter at @STLSQLGUY.

Shawn Nesser is an Application Platform Manager working at Microsoft.   He has been at Microsoft for 12 years in varying roles.

Data Warehouse Best Practices, Design Considerations and Technology Overview.   Strategies for data warehouses are different than what is used for traditional OLTP systems.   We will review what makes a data warehouse different and show you how to best design one to meet the needs of a data warehouse workload.

Scott Shaw is the co-author of two books on T-SQL through Apress publishing. He is a frequent speaker at SQL community events and is the co-leader for the PASS Virtual Chapter on Virtualization. He frequently teaches Big Data and Microsoft BI related courses for Saint Louis University Workforce and Organizational Development Center. He currently lives in Saint Louis working for Oakwood Systems Group as a Principal Consultant and Data Management Lead.

Abstract:  As DBA's we know they're out there. Sometimes they leave a trail of destruction but the good ones can make lives easier. What does a SQL Server Architect do? What is expected of them?  How do you become one and do you really want to be one?
