Abstract:  Hands-on demonstration of moving data from SQL Server to Hadoop and then visualizing it using PowerView.

There is a lot of hype and marketing around Hadoop. You have heard the presentations talking about the Data Lake, or the 3 V’s – Volume, Variety, and Velocity. This presentation is not about that at all. This presentation will focus on the product, its components, and what it really does.  We will primarily focus on the what you can accomplish from a data warehouse perspective. I will show a hands-on demonstration of moving data from SQL Server into Hadoop and then visualizing the data using PowerBI. In the end, you should walk away with a better understanding of the real-world applications Hadoop offers and what value it might bring to your organization.
