Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft has said that SQL Server is the edge of the cloud.  The reality is that most Senior IT Leaders in Saint Louis are developing their cloud strategy.   Are you as a DBA ready?  Can you properly give your leadership advise on that strategy?  We will begin with an overview of Azure Cloud Data Strategy.  Discuss the reality of hybrid cloud.  We will discuss the architecture and DBA basics including:

•           How to create a database, backup, restore it

•           Security

•           How to move on premise to SQL DB (bacpac/dacpac)

•           Performance and Scaling

•           A teaser on hybrid technologies (Stretch, Backup to Azure, Always On Replicas in the Azure)

Dan Guzman is a IT professional with over 30 years of database administration and development experience, specializing in SQL Server since version 4.21 was introduced on the Windows platform.  Dan is an active SQL Server community member, an officer in the St. Louis area SQL Server User Group, and has been a Microsoft SQL Server MVP since 2001

Steve Howard is a Data Platform Technical Specialist for Microsoft.  He is an advocate for data culture delivered through faster insights by more people everywhere.  He is a life-long learner and a Microsoft Certified Cloud and Big Data Architect.  Prior to joining Microsoft he worked in Telco, utilities, eCommerce, and consumer loyalty as a developer and solutions architect.
